Yoga is a physical, mental, emotional and spiritual practice. The practice of yoga postures and breathing practices facilitates a softening of the body and the mind, as well as, strengthening muscles. Each practice has a theme, for example, you may focus more on the breath as a guide during the class or you may focus on a series of twists and an intention of deepening the exhale. The practice of yoga consists of many tools: extending your breath threshold, using sound, strengthening muscles, developing a core integrity, and allowing the cultivation of harmonious states of mind. The body is our instrument and through physical postures, breath adaptation and sound you can learn to fine tune that instrument.
Group Yoga Class
All levels group classes are offered which teach the student to learn how to integrate breathing with flowing movement. A variety of poses will be practiced in different directions and with different bases. The postures are practiced repetitively to stretch and contract muscles and then the posture is held for a few breaths. This class is appropriate for anyone in good shape who would like to increase their flexibility, enhance stability and mental tranquility.
Yoga for Back Care
This class will strengthen the torso and all layers of spinal muscles. Gentle and repetitive movements will increase circulation and strengthen hip flexor and abdominal muscles. Breath with movement helps to release tension and quiet the mind.
Yoga for Seniors
A gentle class designed to increase circulation, strengthen muscles, improve balance and facilitate relaxation. A focus on creating a greater range of motion, as well as, deepening the breath to slow down the heart rate and release tension. Postural alignment is emphasized and practicing simple breathing techniques.
Yoga for the Pregnant Mom
A gentle class for the pregnant mom who would like to strengthen and relax muscles. This class will focus on connecting the mom with her baby through guided visualization and relaxation. The class will be both energizing and relaxing to allow time for mom to restore her energy and to prepare for childbirth with squats, kegel exercises, and standing postures that allow for greater breath capacity.
